Brandon Maahs serves as a wind orchestrator and transcriber for MJM Works. When needed, his main function is to input orchestral work into Finale for Manny to sculpt and arrange so that the music is suitable for marching band and attainable for high school performers.
Brandon's work has been performed nationwide. In the last five years alone, he has premiered works and commissions for the Colleyville Heritage Wind Ensemble and Women's Chorus, the Dallas Wind Symphony, the University of South Alabama, the University of North Texas Green Brigade and the Austin Symphony Orchestra.
As a freelance composer, Maah's works attempt to merge modern complexities with neo-romantic trends in film music and contemporary literature. Maah's music has been reviewed as "[having] a number of compelling features, including thoughtful string orchestration... and the most thunderous ending of the evening" by NewMusicBox.
Maahs has studied formally with Promark artist and composer Jeff Ausdemore, and composer Kirsten Broberg; as well as in masterclass with Pulitzer Prize nominated composer Kevin Walczyk, and film composer and (Brian Lock The Portrait of a Lady, Viper in the Fist).
