Part One begins with our main character, a member of the local mariachi band, going to Sunday church, framed by the music of H. Owen Reed's La Fiesta Mexicana. After a call from the priest, mass is let out, and our man heads off to an afternoon fiesta, depicted in the music, Cancion del Mariachi.

At the party he meets a beautiful woman and the scene is played out through the music of Malaguena Salerosa,

Our musician doesn't realize, however, that the woman has a very jealous boyfriend watching from afar. He confronts our musician while a mariachi band starts up in the front ensemble. The mariachi segue into the band performing the ever-popular Malaguena. as our mariachi fights for the new love of a woman. Who will win in the end?
